Roxy was safely and calmly recovered today. She had only just been adopted the day before she escaped, so we were all deeply concerned. Despite my bad knees, I hobbled into the woods and found a spot to sit on a fallen log. Maybe a minute after I sat down, Roxy quietly emerged from the brush and walked toward me.
I began speaking to her in a calm voice, and with very little hesitation, she came right up to me and allowed me to pet her. I gently slipped a lead over her head, and just like that, she was safe again.

The recovery went surprisingly quickly. From the time I returned to the fallen tree to the moment we made it back out of the woods, it took about an hour—though I don’t move fast. Roxy came to me within a minute, and it took about 30 minutes to slowly make our way out.

Now Roxy is back home, safe and sound. Everyone is relieved and happy.
